I typically design in Adobe Illustrator but wanted to try making a design in Xtool's software. I decided to do easter egg tokens.

Step1: File Design

This was my first design in XCS software and there are some things that I really like about using it. You don't have to buy files or worry about copyright. They also have some basic shapes that can be useful.

  1. Create the bunny token.
  2. On the left click on “shapes” and then the arrow by “animals”. Find the bunny and click on it.
  3. Change the size to how big you want the token to be.
  4. Click text on the left. Change the text in the box to the right to say what you want the reward to be. I put $1.
  5. Create the Egg token.
  6. Click “insert” on the left and then scroll to circle. Click on the workspace and drag to make an oval. Select this oval and make a copy of it. Set the copy to the side for now.
  7. Repeat step 4 and type in what reward you want to give. Place in center of the first oval.
  8. Click “shapes” on the left and select patterns.
  9. Choose the zigzag pattern.
  10. Rotate the pattern 90 degrees and place so it covers the oval under the words. Repeat and place a pattern above the words.
  11. Select the zigzag patterns, oval, and text and click on “combine” at the top and select “subtract”. Move the new zigzag shape into your other oval.
  12. Select the inside of the egg and the text inside of the bunny. Right click and select a different color. This makes it easier to see what will be scored vs. cut. All cut lines should be one color and all score lines should be one color.

Step2: Score and Cut the Design

You'll cut the design out on your preferred material. I used 3mm Basswood plywood that came with my F1.

  1. Insert the cut base for the F1.
  2. Place your material on the base.
  3. Set your settings for score and cut.
  4. Process and cut.

Step3: Finish

It's up to you how you want to finish the tokens. You can keep them as is or you can paint them. I painted them using tooli markers from Amazon.

  1. Paint if desired.
  2. Place inside plastic Easter eggs for a scavenger hunt!
