Information
I had fun with this remix! I wanted to do a dragon because why not? I used a Dollar Tree canvas with Krylon matte spray paint.

I do think I need to work on adjusting the picture settings, because the white spots look a tad too blown out. I still think this piece came out really cool and will be hanging it up in my office.

  1. Do 2 thin coats of white. Make sure to get every inch of the canvas. Wait a few minutes in between each coat.
  2. Do 2 coats of red and be sure to cover all the white.
  3. Lastly, once the red is dry, go over with the black. Cover all the red and the edges of the canvas.
  4. Let dry for a full 24 hours.

  1. Go to Imag-R.
  2. Upload your image and select grayscale.
  3. Scroll down and select “resize”.
    1. Make the image slightly bigger than your canvas so it fits edge to edge.
    2. DPI should be around 300.
  4. Once the sizing has been processed, select material.
    1. Click “norton” if you are using a diode laser.
      1. Once “norton” is selected, choose “white tile painted black”.
  5. Download as a PNG file.

  1. Set your engrave settings by selecting the image.
    1. Please consider running a material test on a different canvas. The power and speed took me some trial and error. It will be different for everyone.
    2. I settled for 43/180/1 and 160 lines per cm.
      1. You can also set it to “jarvis”, but it will produce a different looking image. Whatever you like.
  2. You will also need to adjust the “sharpness” and “grayscale” sliders. This is dependent on the image. The deeper the black, the deeper the laser will go. Keep that in mind when adjusting the settings.

Step4: Let her rip!
Preview
  1. Place your material inside your machine.
  2. Auto measure your material. I used “user defined material” and it detected at 0.6".
  3. Send it to your machine to run!
    1. I highly recommend using your air assist for this.

Step5: Wipe off art
Preview
  1. Once completed, remove the art work.
  2. Get a damp paper towel and wipe down the canvas to remove the residual paint.
