Add the cross shape and a rectangle to the canvas. Use the rectangle to elongate the bottom of the cross. Once you have the size you want combine the two shapes to create one seamless shape.

Add the text using the font you want. I chose “Athelas” font and I like to add spacing between the letters. Select all items and Adjust to center everything!

Step6: Creating the Insert for the Base

Add a Rectangle to the canvas. The height will need to be the same as the material you're using. I am using 3mm Basswood in this project, so I created the height 3mm.The length is best with about ½ inch on each side (duplicate your rectangle because you will use it for your base). Add this to the bottom of your arch shape and then combine it so it is one solid piece.

Step7: Creating the Base

Add a rounded rectangle to the canvas. For this base I did the size 1.5in by 8.5in. I make the base roughly the same size as the width of the sign it's holding up. Add the rectangle you made in the previous step and center it into the base piece. Group these together. Make sure they are set to cut.

Check all your pieces of your sign! ALl pieces should be set to “Cut” except for the font. The Font should be set to “Engrave”.

I used Basswood and i used the preset XCS Settings for the cut and engrave settings. Don't forget to automeasure! Once you have checked it all select Process and then start. If you have air assist make sure it is on as well.
