![[Laser cut and engrave] Laser Cut Wooden Perpetual Dodecahedron Calendar 2026](https://storage-us.atomm.com/resource/xtool/community/attachment/xtool-community/4f594d82-c4e6-4d60-b257-f1b58490b769.jpg?x-oss-process=image/resize,w_1200,h_900,limit_0/interlace,1/format,webp/auto-orient,1)

The design is based on the Dodecahedron, a 12-sided Platonic solid representing the universe and wholeness. By holding the year in your hands and physically rotating the object to find the current month, you are encouraged to take a brief "digital detox" moment, turning the passage of time into a mindful ritual rather than a stressful checklist.
Nine of the twelve sides can be cut on one piece of XTool official 3mm 12x12 basswood. It is important not to resize or change the material thickness, as this may affect the assembly process.

Start with January in the middle and lay out February through June around the perimeter. Repeat the process, with December in the middle and outlining with July through November.
Gently align the cutouts between January and February and massage each piece into place. Using too much force may break the spring friction hold on the pieces. This design does not require an additional binding agent. Continue the process from March through June until you complete the first half of the dodecahedron.
Turn the first half of the dodecahedron upside down, then add July through November. I started with November, aligning with March/February, and then rotated clockwise to install October through July. The more sides a piece needs to align with, the more careful the installation should be.
Once finished, the dodecahedron can sit flat on a surface, with the current month facing outward.
