With the total solar eclipse coming up, we wanted to make some projects for the family to do some experiments. After watching the "EXTENDED CUT: 2024 Solar Eclipse Preparation - Smarter Every Day 295B" from the Smarter Every Day 2 YouTube channel, we recreated some of the projects that was mentioned in this video.
First, download the font “CF Dots 521”.
Open xTool Creative Space and change the text of the font to the text that you choose (I chose the person's name). Select all the text and choose “align horizontally"
Cardstock is required for the first tab of the project because basswood will be too thick and distort the image on the ground. While the solar eclipse is going on, you will see a “banana” in each of the dots.
Select the second tab to get to the “Y” project.
Select the “Y” group and chose “Ignore” so that the machine doesn't try to cut it out. You will first need to cut out the circles that are separate from the “Y”. Make sure that the circles are set to “output”
For the circles on the cardstock, you will select the outside circle and chose the 40/100 setting.
For the small circles, you will chose the 20/200 setting. (I have found that the small circles will cut at a lower power setting and faster speed. I didn't have any success with having the same setting for the two.)
Select the circles you just cut out and change from “Output” to “Ignore”
Select the “Y” and change from “Ignore” to output.
Cut the “Y” out with the laser cutter. No adjustments need to be made.
Attach the circles from cardstock of this file to the large circle on the “Y”.
Cut out the Hand. Not adjustments or changes need to be made.
