We needed something to thank the nice ladies at the daycare for taking care of our daughter in the past year. She is leaving the second group and joins the pre-school group.
A great time to put our crafting skills to the test.
All kids have an animal assigned to their coathanger. Our daughter had a bunny.
So I asked AImake to design a diaper-wearing carrot-eating bunny that points at the camera, and after a few tries, this one came out, perfectly suitable for the job.
Since she cleared the second group, it was obvious to state 'Level 2 cleared'.
I searched for a suitable box and started designing.
A bunny and text on the front, a thank you on the inside of the lid. A foam to rest a few macarons on, some airplac for a nice finish and 24 macarons with the name of our daughter engraved on them.
Start by engraving the lid of the box.
Get some painters tape and cover the left side of the lid.
Score the painters tape and remove the pieces carefully
Use some pencils to highlight the text
Add a little thank you note
Be careful with this step, the laser head bumped into the lid and I had to resand my piece >.>
Cut a foam insert to raise the macarons to the desired height
Cut the airplac that will hold the macarons in place and insert in the box
I needed some kind of repeatability, so I created a jig in 6mm mdf.
Glue both pieces firmly and place the macarons in the center.
Set a name and center it over each macaron. Use the jig to help with the positioning.
Once done, just put it all together and you'll have a nice thank you box.
