I made this piece because sometimes you just need a trash panda in a crate, holding ominous balloons under a judgmental moon.
It’s a love letter to trash goblins, haunted neighborhoods, and the weird beauty of being both adorable and slightly cursed.
Engraving it on painted glass gave it that ghostly, glowy depth, like it drifted in from another dimension (or the alley behind a haunted Victorian).
Prompt: Detailed gothic engraving of a raccoon standing in an overflowing dumpster beneath a massive full moon. Trash-bag balloons drift skyward, glowing faintly like captured souls. Mist coils through a crumbling forest of lamp posts and old buildings in the background. The raccoon gazes upward, one paw still clutching the rim of the dumpster, as if deciding whether to let go. Paper scraps and feathers swirl through the night air. High-contrast woodcut engraving, intricate line texture, melancholic and cinematic lighting.
After generating the image, I moved it over to Lightburn to prep it for laserwork with added contrast and dithering, then exported the PNG into Xtool for processing.
I spray painted an old photo frame that was gathering dust and animal hair…for science. The settings were mostly guesswork as I knew I could go over again if it was too light.
After a few hours to dry, I put it in the laser, set the work area, and frame checked before the magic happened.
Final steps were easy, just reattached the frame. Overall, a successfu experiment.
