Information
I made this coaster for my Halo-obsessed nephew, who refused to use a coaster until I engraved one with his favorite space marine and a meme that hit just right.
Now? Drinks stay off the table. Master Chief said so.
This design is for anyone trying to protect their surfaces and their fandom pride.
It’s also a little reminder that sometimes the best way to solve a problem… is with a laser and a punchline.

Step1: Design And Coaster Prep
Preview
I knew I wanted some contrast on this one, so I spray-painted the coaster with black paint and let it dry for about 4 hours.
I used Procreate to trace over the meme image. (Cheating, I know)
I exported this to Illustrator to clean up the linework and then exported that to XCS.

Step2: Processing Work
I set out my work area, framed about 8 times because sometimes the perfectionism demon screams in my ear if I don't. Then let the laser do its thing for about 27 minutes.

Step3: Finishing Touches

Next, I sprayed it with Polycrylic spray and sent my nephew a picture, as I'm not opposed to using my laser to garner his affection.
