![[Laser cut and engrave] Laser Engraved Black Metal Pet Portrait Plaque](https://storage-us.atomm.com/resource/xtool/community/attachment/xtool-community/4efc3ea2-6c89-4a64-aa8b-8dd68c4b5755.jpeg?x-oss-process=image/resize,w_1200,h_900,limit_0/interlace,1/format,webp/auto-orient,1)

I got the new P3 and wanted to get the settings right to do engraved canvases. I used 2 layers of white Flat spray paint (rust oleum brand) and 2 layers of Black on top of that.
Take a canvas sized to what you want and start spray painting white. I use 2 layers, one painted vertical the other painted horizontal.
Next paint black (or whatever colors you desire. Even multiple colors to get different effects)
Give at least a full day to dry
Take your picture and drop it into Xtool Studio.
Optional: use ImageR or similar to edit the photo the way you want.
Edit the photo to the size of your canvas.
Greyscale and Invert are very important!
Adjust the photo to have more details show up in grey, the more solid black and white you see will have less details at the end.
With some testings these are the settings I went with, I could fine tune it further but I liked the results I got.

The laser will burn off the paint and leave very fine dust that can smear and smudge the picture if not taken off.
Use a microfiber towel that is damp with water and wipe it off. Once its dry seal it with your preferred top coat.
