Information

These boards were created as an educational tool for my grandson who is autistic. He can count 1-111 forward and backwards but struggles after 111. I did two separate boards each with 100 numbers. The first board with numbers 1-100 & second board with numbers 101-200. Each board has numbered square pieces that fall out so can be used like a puzzle to put them back in. The second board also has the numbers engraved on the back board along with the numbered squares that pop out. And hopefully with the second board having both numbers on the pop out squares and the backing board it will aid my grandson to get past the 111 barrier challenge.

Step1

I used 1/8" pressed hardboard for this project which is very cheap and can be purchased at Home Depot. For each number board I used 2 pieces. The first is the back board and can be cut using the RED layer. The second grid board is engraved  with the numbers using the BLACK layer. And the square number cutouts are cut using the BLUE layer. The two boards are simply glued together one on top of the other.

The grids were created using the grid array function in xcs. The numbers were created using the text box feature and aligned according with the grid boxes.

This project would obviously look nicer using a better quality of wood, however was just a test to see how it will work out.
