![[Laser cut and engrave] Gnome Couple For Gift Tags and Ornaments](https://storage-us.atomm.com/resource/xtool/community/attachment/xtool-community/f739836a-b898-4b65-a652-f295d94c06c5.jpg?x-oss-process=image/resize,w_1200,h_900,limit_0/interlace,1/format,webp/auto-orient,1)

I used Atomm AI Make to make a his and hers gnome that could be used multiple ways. I attached the male to a tag to use as a gift tag. The girl I added a hole at the top and turned it into an ornament that could also be used as a gift tag. You could also cut these out and use them for paint parties as there are so many ways to paint these. I even liked the look of them just engraved (I forgot to get a picture but trust me they are just as cute).
This was my very first time using Atomm AI Make so a lot of errors were made by both myself and AI..LOL
The video shows my prompts and results. I originally was thinking of a male gnome, but later went back and decided to use both images instead of just the male one I had originally planned on. Things I learned:
You have to be very specific or you end up with things like a gnome with 3 arms. I also realized that if you don't double click on the image, the prompt you give it will assume you are referring to the last picture shown. It doesn't. You have to make sure the image you are referring to is in your prompt window when you ask it something. Also I attempted to edit the picture in AI Make instead of in Studio and messed up how to do AI erase. I thought you had to highlight what you wanted to keep, but it is the opposite. The result was where I had just the hat remain. I was trying to remove the pom poms from the girls hat. Anyway, it all worked out in the end.
The first thing I did was bring the gnomes into xTool studio and traced them by clicking on edit, then trace. I kept the sliders at their default making sure layering by color was checked.
I then deleted all the layers except for the black. The red and orange layers were extra lines I didn't need for the male gnome, and for the girl gnome I deleted the purple layer and kept the black.
Once the gnomes were graced, I then did an offset so that I would have a cut line. I chose offset and the smallest default above 0 and rounded lines.
I never did like any of the pom poms that AI came up with for the hat so I added a mandala from the shape section and released compound path and chose the outline for the pom pom. I also wanted the nose to stick out, so I released compound on the male gnome and found the nose vector and then enlarged it a bit to cover the nose on the engraving. I did go in and also delete the circle on the nose since it wouldn't be seen.
With the gnomes set to engrave and their outlines, nose piece and pompom piece set to cut, I processes the gnomes on my S1 40w. I used the default setting for engraving on basswood plywood for the engraving and then used my user defined settings of 90 power and 15 speed to cut.
I painted the gnomes with acrylic paint markers. I then added the nose and pompom with wood glue and attached the maie gnome to a precut painted tag I got at a craft store many years ago. I added ribbon to both and the white bead I engraved on my F1 using the standard basswood plywood settings for engraving. I have a bunch that I make and keep on hand each year instead of putting the date directly on the item so that I don't have to recycle the item if it doesn't get sold or given away. Ribbon I got on Amazon was then added.
