Our Little Christmas Preparation – A Father-Daughter Project for the #AImakeHolidayContest ✨
Together with my oldest daughter, I designed and built this charming Christmas box. It shows two children joyfully dancing in front of a Christmas tree – and the best part: they actually spin in circles! 🎄💫
The box is made entirely of wood, with delicate engravings and moving gears that bring the scene to life. It was a wonderful project that taught us a lot and filled us with holiday spirit.
We hope you enjoy our little Christmas scene as much as we do! If you like it, please leave a "Thumbs up/like" and to support us in the contest!
Happy Crafting!
Note: The template should actually be usable on most lasers. However, I was unable to test it for all of them.
Open the project in xTool Studio. Click on Canvas to see all canvases. Select Step 1. Press the Process button and let the laser do its work.
Select the “Step 2” canvas. I didn’t use a camera for engraving on both sides. If you’d like to do the same, press the Process button.
When the machine has finished, use a piece of duct tape to carefully lift both parts—make sure the wood doesn’t shift. Then flip the pieces vertically and place them back in position.
Note: If your laser has a camera, you can, of course, use it to achieve perfect alignment for the front and back.
Select the “Step 3” canvas. Press the Process button to engrave the back and cut out the final shape.
Check that you have all the parts.
If you want to color in the figures, now would be the best time.
Note for Steps 6-11: Be careful not to break off the small parts. It is best not to use too much force, but to move the parts gently back and forth.
Glue the lid on. Be careful not to get glue all over the gear wheel.
Glue the side pieces in place. Then let the whole thing dry thoroughly for a short time.
Carefully attach the gear with the dancing children at the top. Turn the crank to make sure the dancers are turning properly.
Glue the Christmas tree into the slot designated for it.
You're done. Be proud of yourself!
