Information

Add a touch of vintage medical elegance to your home, clinic, or office with this complete set of 17 unique anatomical coasters. Each coaster features a detailed anatomical illustration—from the brain to the bones of the foot—set within a beautiful, ornate filigree border.

As a physician, I've always been fascinated by the beauty of human anatomy. I designed this set to be both a functional item and a piece of art, perfect for fellow medical professionals, students, or anyone with a passion for science and vintage aesthetics. They make a fantastic gift!

Step1

This design is intended for laser cutting and scoring. The provided SVG file uses two colors to separate the operations:

  1. BLACK Layer = SCORE: Set the black layer in your software (like Bambu Studio Laser Slicer, Xtool Creative Space, LightBurn, etc.) to Score (or "Line"). This will create all the intricate anatomical details and the inner decorative border.
  2. RED Layer = CUT: Set the red layer to Cut. This will cut out the final coaster shape along the ornate outer border.

Crucial Step: Always set your machine to Score first, then Cut. This ensures all the details are perfectly aligned before the piece is cut from the main material.

Recommended Materials & Settings

  • Material: I used 3mm Basswood Plywood, but birch plywood or solid woods also work beautifully. Acrylic could also yield interesting results.
  • Machine: These were tested on an Xtool M1 (10W Diode), but any laser cutter will work.

Post-Processing

  1. Cleaning: After cutting, there may be some smoke residue. I recommend gently wiping the surface with a damp cloth or a magic eraser. A light sanding with very fine-grit sandpaper (320+) can also help.
  2. Sealing (Recommended): To protect the coasters from drink condensation and make the details "pop," apply a clear finish. A spray-on clear lacquer (matte or gloss) or a wipe-on polyurethane works perfectly.
