For Valentine's Day I wanted to give something useful. My first thought was to make a glasses case. - However, this has turned out a bit big. In this size it is well suited for pencils, knitting needles, of course also for large glasses and much more. My dear husband now uses it for his insulin syringes. They fit in perfectly and are very well protected. A great gift that he now enjoys every day. (... and lets me indulge in my hobby in peace.
Create a graphic
In Silhouette Studio I created a graphic similar to a heartbeat.
I bought the Heartbeat Font from the Silhouette Store years ago. I used this font to create the heartbeat and the typeface.
On fontspanda.com I found an almost identical font now for free. It is called "Heartbeat Script Family Font Free Download".
The heart with pulse is a different font. It is called "Hearts Salad" and is also available for free on dafont.com.
Welding the font is very cumbersome in the xTool Creative Space software. I recommend one of the two programs below.
If you have Silhouette Studio in the Business Edition, you can export your file as a .png or .svg file.
This is also possible in Inkscape.
Load the Spectacle case file
Many different versions of the glasses case can be found on 3axis for free.
(However, my chosen version was then a bit too big).
Make sure that the chosen version fits the thickness of your material.
Import the files into xTool Creative Space
The felt parts will be cut separately later.
- Mark these 4 parts with the mouse.
- Switch off the output for these objects.
Put your material (wood) into the laser. Engrave and cut it.
Place the felt in your machine and cut it as well.
I prefer to cut the felt with the laser as well and not with the blade. The edges of the felt fray less that way.
However, please make sure that the felt is suitable for laser cutting.
Sticking together
I used regular craft glue to glue the felt to the wood pieces.
This is very quickly dry and you can assemble your parts.
On the wooden edges of the two larger parts I have also painted glue next to the felt strips.
