I made this for a friend to go on his wall with all his Spartan Race Medals The original was for a a small shield, 335mm across, and made from 10mm thick upcycled tounge and groove panelling. I did a smaller one on a round bamboo bottle opener. Botrh turned out really well, and my friend was well chuffed, so I thought why niot share it with the community. Feel free to download and tweak as you see fit
feel free to adjust the settings to reflect the material you are using, The bamboo did not need a great deal of power, but I did crank it up to 100% with 100 speed for the large tounge and groove. The latter was then sanded and stained, followed by a varnish.
move the focus down gradually to cut the material, ensuring the air assist is on full. Repeat until this has cut through. I put the material on a couple of pieces of scrap so I could see when the cut had gone all the way through.
with the larger versionm this was then sanded and stained, followed by a varnish.
I would suggest oputting some backing on the reverse if you are using tounge and groove to ensure this stays together when hung. Some 3mm ply off cuts from another project would suffice.
Then add a sawtooth or hemp to hang.
