Before You Start:
Ensure your Xtool laser engraving machine is properly connected to your computer and powered on.
Check that the Xtool Creative Space software is updated to the latest version.
Place your chosen material (as per the image, 0.2mm Kraft Paper) onto the baseplate of the engraving machine and make sure it is securely fastened.
Steps in Xtool Creative Space:
Open Software and Import Image:
Launch Xtool Creative Space.
Import your image (the file containing the circular design with flamingos and a whale, the text "Sny se mají plnit," and the hearts).
You can drag and drop it directly into the workspace or use File
> Import
.
Material Settings:
In the top right corner of the screen, click on the Material
dropdown menu.
Select Kraft Paper
. (According to your screenshot, it's "1/64"(0.2mm) Kraft Paper, which is ideal.)
Engraving Layer Settings (Settings overview):
In the right-hand panel, you'll see an overview of the individual elements (layers) of your design. According to your screenshot, you have:
Text "Sny se mají plnit" (Engrave)
Circular image with flamingos and a whale (Engrave)
Two red hearts (Engrave)
For each layer (text, image, hearts), follow these steps:
Mode: Ensure it is set to Engrave
.
Power: According to your screenshot, it's set to 60%
. For Kraft paper, this is usually a good starting point. If the paper burns too quickly or the engraving isn't visible enough, you can adjust it.
Speed: According to your screenshot, it's set to 250mm/s
. This is a relatively high speed. For detailed engraving on paper, it might be suitable, but if you want deeper or darker engraving, you can reduce it (e.g., to 150-200mm/s).
Pass: It's set to 1
. For paper, one pass is usually sufficient. If the engraving is not prominent enough, you can increase it to 2.
Arrangement and Size (on the canvas):
Position the entire design on the workspace so that it is centered or where you want it on your material.
Check the size of the design. In your screenshot, the width is 44.56 mm. This is a relatively small size, make sure it is the desired size for your outcome. You can adjust it using the corner points of the selection box or by entering precise values in the top part of the panel.
Prepare for Engraving:
Click on the Process on baseplate
button (or similar name, the icon looks like a square with a downward arrow).
Review the engraving preview. Ensure all parts of the design are displayed correctly and within the material boundaries.
Xtool Creative Space has a laser position preview (framing) function. Use it to ensure the design will be engraved in the correct spot on your material.
Start Engraving:
Once you are confident with all settings and positioning, click the Start
or Engrave
button.
The laser will begin working. Do not leave the machine unattended during engraving.
Important Notes:
Test Engraving: It is always recommended to perform a test engraving on similar material (or a scrap piece) with these settings to verify that the result meets your expectations before performing the final engraving.
Ventilation: Engraving paper can produce smoke and odor. Ensure you have adequate room ventilation or use an exhaust system.
Safety: Never look directly into the laser beam without protective eyewear.
