This design is a remix of a birdfeeder I created during a time when I felt discouraged and uncertain about continuing my work. Designing that first feeder changed everything—it received so much positive feedback and even sold quickly, which gave me a huge boost of confidence and reignited my passion for creating. Since then, I’ve developed several new versions of that design, each one building on that first success. This particular birdfeeder also marked my very first time working with acrylic—a material I was initially intimidated by. To my surprise, it turned out beautifully and gave me the courage to explore new materials in my future projects.
This design uses 5mm acrylic. If you change the material be sure to adjust the size of the slots and pegs to fit the size of your material. The black lines are cut and the purple lines are score. Process your material.
Use a glue for acrylic for assembly. Glue the bottom pieces together using the score lines as a guide. Next, glue the top pieces together by sliding each piece onto the hanger. Glue the larger peg to the hanger.
Insert the butterfly sides into the slots of the bottom tray. Now, slide the top piece onto the butterflies. Glue the pegs in place on the top and bottom. Your birdfeeder is now complete.
