These last few years have been incredibly chaotic. Several Major surgeries and hospitalizations on the one side and weddings, job changes, and moves on the other. I remember having worry stones when I was a kid and calming myself with them. I decided to make a few custom engraved stones for myself and my family to carry around when they needed to take a second and refocus.
Measure your stones to find the approximate size of each. Mine were from a bag from the dollar store and I chose ones that were approximately 1 x ½ inch.
Optionally, take a moment to put a small mark in the approximate center of the stone to line up the dot for when you do your framing on the laser.
Type your message and adjust the size of the text so that it will fit on your stone in both dimensions. Adjust settings of engrave for your particular machine.
Use the framing with the dot in the center for best results to line up where the engraving should go (you can tell from pictures which stones I messed this up). Cut.
For some of the stones, I used acrylic paint to make the words stand out more. I painted over the stone, then washed off the surface within 30 or so seconds so the paint pooled in the engraving stayed.
Warning: any indents in the stone itself are liable to collect paint as well.
