A layered forest design adds depth to the artwork. Paint it in any color you like.
The default model doesn't include the background making it see through. This is perfect for back illumination of the design.
Cut out all of the pieces. Be careful removing them to not break away some of the delicate details.
You can scale the model to any size but I wouldn't recommend going much below the default size as the details will get too small to cut out.
Optionally, paint the pieces.
I decided to use a variety of different colors in this design. Choose any combination you like.
You don't need to paint where the next layer will overlap. Even more, the glue will hold better on unpainted areas.
To assemble the image, I suggest gluing 2 layers together at a time.
Wait until the glue is sufficiently cured before stacking multiple layers together. I also suggest you clamp the pieces around the edges.
If the edges are uneven or don't look nice, I suggest you fix this as it will improve the overall look.
I first sand the edges to make them flat. This will also make the image stand up nicely.
Then I paint around the perimeter with a diluted wood glue mixture to seal up the wood.
Once this diluted glue dries, paint the edges.
