Information
I decided that I would create a sign that followed the woodworkers motto, but more the style of how I work. Instead of measuring twice, I often cuss once after the second measurement when I noticed I measured wrong. Therefore a new motto!
The project is pretty straightforward, and notes are attached to the Canvas as ignored engraved text. I feel XCS needs a notes or comment tool to assist since everytime you change materials, the tool settings are reset.
Since this is a pretty large piece on a single 3mm piece of basswood, I encourage you to coat the wood with one coat of clear prior to the start. The wood might buckle and you can press it flat while the finish hardens (mine is still not flat)
I attached my sign by using a couple of ferrite magnets, but you could add a couple of 10mm holes near the top edge for hanging.
The sign is deliberately rough on the sides to fit the look of an old two man saw
Take notes of changes as you go along, and back up XCS file to start. All of the settings are for Basswood.
If you have 5mm stock, I might recommend using that thickness due to the amount of engraving that goes on, and 3mm can warp.
