Layout and cut is really straight forward:
- If using 300x300 material use the red outline as a way to center your objects prior to cutting.
- The bottom is cut from two identical pieces and glued together during assembly using wood glue, then CA glue. Then attach to the front and back using CA glue (you may need to place in blocks to insure the sides are vertical).
- The front and back are engraved as shown with the Company text as the front and the City as the back (generic text used in the template). Lettering is optional, but gives a nice professional look. If not needed, it is simply deleted.
- Since there are just the 3 pieces (after bottom is glued together), the assembly is pretty straight forward. The trick is positioning the pieces together and gluing in place with all sides perpendicular. I use superglue since I position the pieces manually - wood glue would be better, but a jig would likely need to be created.
- Insure that all of the joints are glued, front bottom, back bottom, and edges. The double layer bottom is really the only strength for the Napkin Holder.
- Note: I found that using a higher than recommended engraving power when using Basswood gives a stronger visual impression. I also cut out the pieces using two passes because I have found that the Basswood often has hard spots and doesn't get fully cut at suggested power and speed.
