Step1: Design step 1

Step 1) This project starts with a un-grouped SVG file of the moon. With it un-grouped the outline can be moved away from all the smaller bits that make up the flowers. The flowers are grouped to keep them intact. The next thing is the wording is added and font picked. These will go inside the curve of the moon itself. Once the right font is selected all the words are sized to fit. Then the words alone are outlined with a large offset. Then the offset of the outline is united to the moon making it all one piece.

Step 2) Now the flowers from earlier are set to be engraved and are placed within the moon, the wording is set to be scored for alignment help when assembly is started. The wording is duplicated and the second set are to be cut from the walnut wood.

Step 3) Now that all setting have been adjusted the laser machine will do it's tasks, once finished the assembly can begin. The walnut pieces are glued to the scored lettering on the painted birch. I painted the birch after the engraving to give the engraving a slight colored vibe. This coat of paint was very thin.
