Image engraved on clear acrylic and mounted in custom frame
Place the acrylic into the machine and set focal height. Be sure to remove the protective paper from both sides.
Import your image file. I used an AI-generated image for this project. Once satisfied with the placement process the image. DO NOT leave your machine! Acrylics are flammable!
Frame is cut out from whatever material you prefer. I used 3mm basswood for the back and spacer layers, then engraved ECO board MDF for the front face.
I used black-painted photopaper as a backer behind the acrylic to make the image stand out. You can use whatever color suits your specific situation.
Glue the spacer to the back. I use a typical wood glue, clamp, and allow to dry. Cut and insert the paper into the frame, then place the acrylic over that.
Glue the front frame onto the spacer, taking care not to get the glue on the acrylic. Use just enough glue to hold it in place.
