This mosaic mushroom is the very first template I ever designed, cut, and filled, born out of a kids’ art camp at one of my three studios. What started as an experiment with my new xTool quickly became a project that showed me the power of creating my own files, not only for myself but for my community. Now refined, this design represents the spark that empowered me to bring fun, inspiring projects to both kids and adults, going beyond cutting and engraving into creativity that connects people

Step1
Step 1: Cut & Assemble the Template
- Cut your mushroom template using red lines for cuts.
- Use wood glue to assemble the layers of the template.
- Let it dry fully before moving on.
Step 2: Optional Painting
- Paint or decorate the wooden base if you’d like extra color.
- Allow paint to dry completely.
Step 3: Fill with Resin
- Mix resin according to the package directions, tinting it with white pigment.
- Pour a thin layer of resin into the recessed sections of the mushroom template.
- While resin is still wet, gently press in your glass pieces or mosaic tiles until you’re happy with the design.
Step 4: Finishing Touches
- Allow resin (or grout) to fully cure as directed (usually 24 hours).
- Check for any sharp edges or loose pieces.
- Display your mosaic mushroom proudly!
Alternative Options
Grout Method: Instead of resin, glue glass pieces directly to the template and fill in the spaces with grout once dry.
Scrap Tile Method: Skip glass altogether—use small colored scrap pieces from other laser projects as your “tiles” with resin.
✨ Kid-Friendly Tip: Skip the resin and simply glue pieces in place with or without grout.
