My method of multi color screen printing with the Xtool Screen printer and the S1 20w although this may not be the right way it works for me.
Step 1) First thing for this project was to find an image of a hummingbird form the internet. This is a free image. Then the next step is to prepare the image and the S1 20w to engrave on the 100 count screen pprinting screen. once the image is brought into the XCS software the screen print is selected from the drop down menu. Then the settings are adjusted to engrave the image. The recommended settings of LPC is 200 for screen so it was adjusted to that value. The nect was the power and the speed. in order to burn effectively through the emulsion the settings need to be quite high.
Step 2)Now the Screen printer, First the screen frame is mounted to the base. It is adjusted so it fold down tightly to the substrate. Once this is ready the substrate, in this case a canvas bag is positioned on the bed to be flat and square to the image. Once you are happy with it's location i like to use a lint remover running over the area that will be printed. Once I am happy with this I proceed to add the desired color inks. I do this method, it may not be the right method but it works for me. I add enough ink for the first color, I place ink all around the area's it will be that color. I then use a small scrapper to remove excess ink. i then repeat this same steps for the second color ink. I do this so the colors of ink do not mix and clean up is easier.
Step 3) Now it is time to use the supplied rubber scrapper, I firmly press across the printed area on a 45° angle until the entire area has had pressure. Then i lift the screen frame away from the substrate and bingo printed …
Step 4) Now it is time to clean up. if you are doing many canvas bags a quick cleaning will do but if you don't plan on doing a second one for some time I just clean it thoroughly with water and a paper towel. Seeing the ik is water based it cleans up easy. I then use the trusty xtool vacuum with the blower to dry it. Now the screen is ready to use again, with the same colors or with different ones.
