i attend many polynesian style events and wanted to add something to my hair. i decided to start with just the shape of the comb editing nodes to get the shape i wanted. i then used and outline of a hibiscus and combined it with my comb. once the cut shape using 100% power and 14mm/s speed was done i added the score lines using 65% 100 speed mm/s of the actual flower deep enough that paint would stay in place. took them out flipped them over and scored the other side as well using the original board as a template to put them in. once complete i removed them sanded the edges to be sure it wouldnt catch on the hair and painted using tooli paint pens with ultra fine tip. you can ligthly sand any paint that goes where it isnt wanted then sealed it all with miniwax spray laquer. you can used the basic comb shape with any flower or animal im thinking turtles next just be sure to have one side mirrored if the images are not equal on both sides.
editing nodes from three rectangles i formed the forks and combined them 2 of which were the forks and 1 to be the top where they meet. found a flower outline i liked and did an offset of that flower and combined that with my comb. added the score lines to the inside of the comb. did a mirrored version as i will be doing front and back and want to use the wood as a template to hold the combs in after one side is done i can flip it and place it in the holes only needing to readjust the distance. once cut out i sanded to ensure no part would catch on hair and then painted and laquered
