The first day of school is a big milestone – for kids, it’s both exciting and a little scary. With this handmade card, you can bring a smile and show your support. Using your xTool M1 Ultra, you’ll combine pen plotting and cutting to create a card that’s both personal and professional.
Import the template into XCS and put a piece of Paper on the electrostatic mat. Than Position the design so that it fits on the Paper.
Use the drawing pen to draw the text. Be sure to use the correct colour.
Ensure that only the layers you want to process are enabled – ignore the rest. See the image above for reference. (Only the Text on the right of the black layer should be selected to process)
Switch to foil transfer tip mode for the line in the middle to create an easy and straight fold in the middle. (Only the orange layer should be selected to process)
Switch to the blade tool and cut around the outline of the card (fine-point blade, 220g pressure, 80mm/s, 2 times). (Only the Text on the right of the red layer should be selected to process)
Flip the card so that the text is on the bottom of the right side. Mark the current position in XCS and position the bear in the middle of the left side.
Switch to the drawing pen to draw the outside of the card. Be sure to use the correct colour. (Only the Text and Design on the left of the black layer should be selected to process)
Carefully fold along the center line (flipping to the “wrong” side first helps to get a nice fold). Your card is ready to be gifted – a special keepsake for a child’s first school day!
