Handcrafted Fabric Floral Wreath We realized the example using different fabrics leftovers, so you can see that the dimensions of the flowers are different, depending on the thickness. The shared settings are for thin felt, however you can also use the math to blade cut thinner fabrics or paper to use as pattern to scissors-cut. Our suggestion is to cut and assembly a sample of each flower and leave, to be sure of the final dimension, then decide how many others you need for your composition. Also, the single flowers are adaptable: in our example, the roses have 6 petals each, and the daisies have 5 petals, but you can use more or less of them. To assembly them, you can sew or glue. In the example, all the flowers are hand sewn – it’s easier. There are many canvas not on a single sheet.
Cut a wood wreath base, the two parts of the fabric base cover (front and back), and the fabric flowers and leaves parts.
Put the eva foam into the M1 or the basswood for the base.
BE CAREFULL: if you have the air assist use the tape to fix the eva foam to the plate.
Rose: Fold a petal in half on the long side, sew long the curve side, then squeeze a little, to create the petal shape and tie the thread. Repeat with all the petals. Arrange the petals in a line, overlapping a corner, and sew them together. Roll the petals stripe to get the rose shape and sew/paste it.
Tullip: Fold two little stripes on the long sides of the rectangle (you can iron them to fix the folding). On the reverse side, close the rectangle to a cylinder, and sew together the shorter sides. Turn the right side out, then sew all around the base side, squeeze and sew. Insert the padding, then close the upper part like an “X”: fold it in a half and sew the middle point. Then turn of 90 degrees and do it again. Now, sew or glue the holes to get the “X” shape on the top. You can decorate the center with a pearl or a crystal.
Daisy: For each petal, you need two parts – front and back. Sew or glue the border of the two parts together, leaving a little hole; insert the padding, then complete the closure. When all the petals are done, sew the bases together and squeeze. For the center, sew all the circumference of the circle, put the padding in the middle, then squeeze and sew strictly. Now sew the center in the middle of the corolla.
Leave: proceed as per the daisy’s petal.
Base: Glue a little of padding all around the front side of the wood base, then apply the front fabric cover and paste it on the back with a little glue on each little flap. When done, glue the back fabric cover to close the base.
Try if all pieces are fitting well. And choose the best position of each piece.
Sew or paste all the pieces to the base and ENJOY!
