A diorama of mountains. You can scale it to about any size you wish. If you download the design, it will help me reach more people.
Cut out the required parts. Optionally you could skip the full back panel and have a see through sun.
You can scale the parts to any scale you wish just make sure all parts are the same size. If you go too small the tree details won't come out too good.
I decided to go from dark to light brown for the color scheme. You can choose any combination you like.
I would advise you don't paint the whole front as you will need to glue the pieces together. See the finished part, where the individual pieces overlap. If you omit the color where there is no need for it, the glue will hold better.
Make sure you paint the right side. Alternatively, you can also flip the sides if it looks better to you.
Instead of painting, you can use different types of wood to make the image in colors. I think it would come out very nice but you would need to use quite a lot of variety to get a good result.
Continuing from option 2, you could use a few different types and use staining to color the wood instead. Staining can also bring out the fibers which painting doesn't do and may look quite nice with some types of wood.
Start gluing the parts together in stages.
I recommend gluing two pieces at a time. If you don't clamp them properly, stacking multiple pieces will make them shift.
Once the glue is dry, then glue the two assemblies together and continue until you have one part. Make sure you get the order correct.
Clamping is advised as the parts can warp when cut out. Alternatively, you can weigh the parts down or use tape.
To finish up I recommend you sand the external perimeter to make it smooth. It is difficult to align everything perfectly so this will take care of it.
I also painted the external perimeter to make it look nicer. You can do this if you wish. I used a black paint as it went well with my color scheme.
