A 3D rocket puzzle. The puzzle doesn't take much material to make and is relatively quick and easy to assemble.
Once you cut out the pieces I recommend you sort them. The circular pieces will have either 3, 4 or 6 notches. The pieces with 3 and 6 notches form the body of the rocket while the pieces with 4 notches form the side engines.
I recommend you use a slower setting glue (10min+) to make is possible to readjust the pieces if required.
Take the pieces as in the picture. Two J shaped pieces should be used (only one is shown in the picture).
I first apply glue in one notch in she circular piece and add it to the largest piece. The circular pieces go from top to bottom in order form smallest to largest.
Then you can add the two “hook” or J shaped pieces which are installed to either side.
Finally, add the smaller piece opposite of the largest piece. It will go in only one way.
Make sure everything is aligned and pressed together. You can use some rubber bands to help you.
Repeat for all three engines and left to cure.
Take the three long pieces and all the circular pieces. I recommend you first fit everything together without glue. Once you are sure you got the order of circular pieces right, remove the long pieces one by one and glue it back in before moving to another. It may be difficult to align all of the notches at first.
The circular pieces with 6 notches go in order from smallest to largest from the bottom (left in the picture).
The circular pieces with 3 notches don't go in order by size but I recommend you first sort them by size to make it easier. The largest piece will go in the 6th notch from the top of the long piece and then to each side of it with increasingly smaller pieces.
Install the engines in to the remaining four open notches (of the 6 notch pieces) on the bottom of the rocket body.
Place the assembled rocked standing up on a flat surface.
Make sure everything is aligned. You can use clamps to help hold everything together. Looking from the top down the engines should be evenly spaced.
Once the glue has cured you are done.
