Halloween is approaching! This fun sign can be a great afternoon project with the kids! Using birchwood, paint, glue and some string, you can create a hanging sign just like this one. Easy to make and in time for spooky season! Enjoy!
These files allow you to choose Mickey, Minnie or both for your Halloween sign. First, cut the pieces on your laser cutter using the setting best designed for your machine to cut 1/8" (3mm) Basswood Plywood or the wood of your choice.
For Mickey's ghost body, paint the back of the sign black (paint both sides for a finished look), the ghost body white, the eyes white, the tongue red. For the “Hey Boo” sign, paint the back black, and the letters a fun Halloween color (I used orange, with black and white polka dots.
Once the paint is dry. Using wood glue, glue the ghost body to the black back of the sign, ensuring the holes at the bottom are lined up. The “Hey Boo” sign is scored so you can easily glue the letters on to the sign. You can also seal with your favorite clear sealer.
Use string or a metal ring connector to hang the “Hey Boo” sign so it is hanging below the ghost. I used jute rope, about two inches, making sure it was even on both sides and pulling the knot to the back so you can't see it. Then add your hanging material of choice to the top of the sign, again I used just rope and added a couple of wood beads for embelishment. Get creative!
You're all finished! Enjoy your wooden Halloween sign!
