Step 1) For this project an image the shape of a small boat is brought into the work area with the help of the image button. This image doesn't need nothing other than using the trace feature to make it a vector path. Once the image is completely traced the original shape is then deleted as it is no longer needed.

Step2: Making the Base

Step 2) Now we have the shape of the boat that has full control including cutting, we make an outline of the shape. This is done with the outline feature, a good border is needed so an off set of 0.2 is selected. this then leaves the original shape with the thick border. Then only the new outlined shape is needed to be duplicated so it is copy and pasted.

Step 3) Now the paper straw comes into play, by measuring the dia. of the straw a hole can be made so it is a tight fit. This is created with the insert button. The hole is then placed in the middle of the boat's base. This hole will hold the mast for the sail. Then with the insert button again a rectangle is created to represent the sail this will be cut from the copy paper. 2 holes the same size as the mast hole will be placed on top of each other on the sale so the mast/paper straw can go through it.

Step 4) Once the laser machine has finished cutting the needed parts they are glued to each other and the paper straw is tightly fit in the hole and the paper is slid onto the mast. then it's off to the water. with a little wind the little boat floats away like the real ones do….
