I designed this because the chess piece molds tend to tip and I needed something to help keep them upright and level while the epoxy sets. This is designed to hold the pieces for each side of the board for molds that range from 1 to 1.25 in in diameter. The stand allows for easy filling of the molds and allows them to hang while setting.
All the pieces for this stand (x2) can be cut from one 12x12 piece of wood (or acrylic), keeping it simple to create and assemble.
The design allows for 16 chess piece molds to hang from each one; 8 small and 8 large pieces.
Using these pieces, double them up with the pieces that match (but without the center holes) and glue them together. These are the base for the legs of the stand.
Using the two longer thin pieces, assemble them as shown and glue to the round foot, This is your center support leg.
Next assemble the two outside legs. Align the smaller toothed rectangle on top of the larger one so the gaps are lined up. Glue the small rectangles into the slots so that they stick slightly out the top. This will be your joint to lock into the top of the stand. The leg sits just under the outside edge of the top and the smaller pieces lock into the outer edge.
Stand up all three legs for the support and line them up with the top piece. Glue them in and allow them to dry. If you want a taller center support, you can use the extra circles cut out from the top to make the center leg longer as needed. (I also took the cut out from the center support in the top and turned it 45 degrees and glued it down to help keep the center leg from popping out the top if things get too heavy. It isn't really necessary, but I was bored and felt like adding it.
