I wanted to try a new method I saw on youtube - I painted the plywood sheet with chalk paint first, and then engraved & cut. I like the result, so sharing all details with you.
In this method, we are painting the wood way before we use it, and let it dry.
Since it is an experiment, I added different colors / type of paints for one sheet of wood - in this tutorial I am showing to you how it worked out with chalk paint.
You can see on the picture, what type of paint I choose. For this one, you won't need anything else, no stain, no varnish.
I simply applied to one part of the wood, and let it dry. (I took an hour or so, so better start in time to let it dry completely.)
This time I used lighter engraving settings, because I wasn't sure how it will look like with this pale pink color. I like the results - feel free to adjust!
I used light sanding paper to sand the edges and the painted part. (next time I will paint the other side of the wood too - it would look much better!)
I added a before-after picture to show how shiny it became.
The last step is only adding the settings to your earrings, and then - ready to use - or sell :)
I like this simple design, and it's super easy to make. You can use a light glossy varnish, or some appealing color dot somewhere to make it popping more… share below if you made it :)
