This Project will show how you can pin point a cut with the S1 machine on a picture. This allows full control of the shape and the picture lining up without the guess work.
Step 1) For this project to work a print of any picture will be needed, this can be from a inkjet or laser printer. (Color is best) a piece of birch wood this can be any other wood as well. and finally a spray adhesive.
Step 2) Now from the print it is best to cut out the picture from the print, then on the back side of the picture spray the adhesive all over the back. Wait 30 seconds and firmly place it on the wood.
Step 3) Now place the glued picture and wood in the S1, set the auto focus by having the cross hairs somewhere on the picture. Then with the software select to create a marking by pressing the start marking button. pick rectangle and follow the instructions to make a marking. Set cross hairs at the very top corner on the left of the picture for the first mark then the very bottom right corner to mark the second point. Now back in the software you will see the rectangle/square you have created with the 2 pin system of the S1. Now from images bring the actual picture from your computer that you used. Resize this picture in XCS software to fit the rectangle exactly. Now you have the actual coordinates of your picture on the wood and XCS software.
Step 4) This step introduces the cut out shape you like, in this case it is a rattle, The image of the rattle is stored on the computer and is an SVG file so it can be cut. Now once it is on the work area you can resize it and place it over the picture exactly where you want it to be cut without guessing. The picture is no longer needed so it can be deleted or set to ignore. Now the laser can cut the shape that is being used.
Step 5) Now that the laser machine has cut the desired shape, remove it from the laser machine and add a self adhesive magnet to the back. Then take spray clear coat and give the new shaped picture a light coat for protection. Now the pictured rattle is ready to be used….
