A card and a model fighter jet all in one. The pieces for the fighter jet snap out to make a 3D model that actually flies. This is my own design so I'm willing to share the files for you to use. I did this on 3mm plywood using a D1Pro 20w using XCS standard setting ('3mm plywood' from the dropdown). The text is engraved and the ornamentation, frame and hearts, is scored. To add a touch of colour, I used metallic gold and red acrylic markers. It is sized to fit perfectly in a standard sized card envelope.
In XCS ‘Open’ the 'FighterJetModel.xcs' file. You can download it from the design files that are part of this how-to. It is currently sized and positioned to fit the card.
Position it at x1.878" y2.077"
Set it to cut.
Select ‘Insert’ from the left side menu and select the rectangle.
Set size (in inches) 7"w x 5"h
Set corner radius to .25
Select ‘Border’ from the left side menu and expand it. I selected the one 5 rows down second from the left.
Set the dimensions to 6.75"w x 4.75" h.
Using the text tool on the left menu type in the wording (3 separate text boxes).
For all text I use the Atma font face.
If you use the attached xcs file you will want to change the name from 'Jenn' to your own.
Position the 3 text boxes on your workspace as shown.
Set all text to engrave.
