Step 1) This project starts with a circle that is sized to 6" in Dia. Then the earth and moon are used that are SVG images from my computer. The earth is sized to be 6" in Dia. as well but the moon is sized to 2" in Dia.

Step 2) Now that the earth is sized and the moon as well it is time to remove some of the moon, this is done with the first circle I created earlier. it is placed slightly over the moon image and with the help of the combine feature. The part of the 5" circle is removed by selecting subtract. You then left with a partial moon image that will go right up against the earth to show distance between them

Step3: Outline The Earth and Moon

Step 3) Now that the earth and moon are placed together, an outline or border is needed. This border is done with the outline feature and is set to have a thick border so the off set was set to 0.4

Step4: Wording

Step 4) So the earth and moon are together with a border so now is the wording. This is a little tricky so the sentence is broke up. The curve feature of XCS is used but only in steps. As each word is added it is manually curved to meet the outside border. If the entire sentence was one piece the curve feature would not match. So on to setting the engravings, I want the land on earth and the craders on the moon to be engraved so the combine option is used with subtract at overlap of both the earth and the moon together before the engraving is set. This way it will engrave all one piece and the way I want it to be done.

Step 5) Once the laser machine was finished engraving the project was blown off with air then the silver color was added to the moon and the blue was added to the earth to give the finished plaque.
