Who doesn't want a pot of Gold? Well here is one for the special day coming in March....you know the big green day!
Step 1)For this project the triangled shape is selected from the shape list, it is resized and a rectangle is created with the insert button. This rectangle is placed over top the top portion of the triangle. it is larger than the top so when using the combine feature it will remove the top of the triangle by selecting subtract. Now you have the beginnings of a large pot.
Step 2) Now we will add the brim of the pot this is done by creating a very flattened oval with the insert button. This new oval is placed along the top of the pot. With the use of the combined feature the parts are united together by selecting unite. This is very large pot so feet are added. This is done by yet another shape from the shape list. Once the pointed circle is picked it is resized and shaped by un-locking the ratio button. Once I was happy with the new shape and size I placed it near the bottom on the left of the pot. We will need 2 of them so it is copied and pasted to create a second one. The second one is facing the wrong way so the reflect button flips it around to face inwards opposite of the other one. Now they are lined up to look like feet and are united to the rest of the pot.
Step 3) Now the outside of the brim of the pot is created. This is done with another very flat oval, this oval is created 2 times and placed slightly on top of each other. the top one a tab bigger to make the curved needed. Once this is in place once again the subtract feature from the combine button is used to remove the un-wanted parts. The new shape is set to be engraved and will be used shortly.
Step 4) Now the coins are needed, this is an SVG on the computer and it is introduced with the image button. Once this image is on the work area it is outlined with an offset of 3. Now the outline only is moved over to be on top of the pot with a slight overlap. Once again the unite feature is used to make the pot and the gold coin outline all one image. After this is complete the coins can be placed within the outline over top the pot. These will be set to be scored only. Now let's put the wording Pot of Gold on the pot. This is a simple procedure with the use of the text editor, type it out size it and pick a font of your liking. Once this is ready the curve feature is used to put a slight bend on the wording to follow the pot's shape. This is ready to go however for a better look I made letters of the wording to put over top the engraving. This step can be done with engraving of the words only or cut the wording out the option is open.
Step 5) Now with the laser scoring, engraving and cutting the option is engraved words or cut out words that are painted. I like the cut words with paint over the engraving because the walnut is a dark wood, this would not be needed if the wood was birch.
