This is my first attempt at creating a laser cut wooden jigsaw. As a first test I just used 4mm MDF and an AI generated image.
To make the jigsaw template I used a very useful free to use website that you can find here.
This tool can make jigsaw puzzles in any size and generates a SVG file that is ready for laser cutting.
Now that you have the jigsaw template you will need to add a image to engrave on the puzzle.
I used an AI generated mountain scene that is included in the design file.
If you decided to make your own picture using AI I've found that using words like ‘simple’, ‘black and white’, and ‘geometric’ help get images that will work well for engraving.
The xArt AI in XCS is a very useful feature and there are also other AI services like Microsoft CoPilot that can also generate images.
Now you just need to cut and engrave your design. Remember to set the jigsaw template to cut then add your image to a separate layer to engrave.
