Step1: Preparation

Preparation is the basis of good glass engraving. If the base is not good, the glass will break and crack during the engraving process.

  1. Make sure the glass surface is clean and free of grease.
  2. Place a tissue on the glass
  3. Sprinkle the tissue with a “plant sprayer”
  4. When the tissue is fairly wet, you can make sure the surface is smooth.
You can work on this by a combination of pulling and rubbing and possibly making it a bit more moist.
    1. practice makes perfect .
    2. Break the tissue, get a new one and try again!
  1. Succeeded? Then the preparation is done.

If the surface of the tissue is not smooth on the glass or has a lot of air bubbles, you will see that the engraving at those points will differ from the other engraving locations. Or worse, that the glass will crack during the engraving.

Step2: Place the glass

clamp the glass in the Rotory with the open side of the glass on the motor side. Do not clamp the Rotory too hard, as the glass may break.
On the back, place the clamp (see photo 2)

Step3: Alignment

Make sure the rottory is aligned so that the red dot for the distance measurement is at the highest point of the long drink glass.

Step4: Final check and start

If everything is ok?

  1. Check for the last time, if the tissue on the glass still feels moist/wet.
If this is not the case, you can sprinkle it again with water in the Rottery while the glass is in the Rottory..

-→ Watch out! electrical parts of the Rottory, can NOT withstand water. So only moisten the tissue and not electrical parts or the head of the laser.

If you are going to engrave the “(1) around the globe” or "(2) the arrow engreving", with the text

1) I started with you, and now I end with you.
                                   and
2) I'm going to a new school.
(I'm going to a new school.)

Then pause halfway through the engraving process and moisten the tissue again. After that, you can activate the process again.

(Because of mutch engraing on a smal place, the water in the tisue can be evaporate. You need to top this up to prevent cracks)

Make sure that you leave the rotary and the glass in the same position, and do not touch or move the rottery or glass!

  1. Remove the glass from the machine and gently wipe the issue off the glass.
  2. With washing water and another tissue you can remove the remains of the "ravished" tissue from the glass.
  3. As a final step, you can carefully dry the glass again.
    1. Why carefully: By engraving glass, you actually damage the glass and there may still be small burrs on the surface. You can remove them from the surface in a calm and controlled manner.
  4. When the glass is dry, you will see that the engraving becomes whiter and therefore clearer.

Your glasses are ready. Have fun with the execution
