Trophy & foam finger Father’s Day magnets for any dad in your life! Super easy project, kiddos can even help paint for an extra special gift for dad. Blank trophy’s are included so you can add your own name title, and a regular #1 foam finger design.
My settings are just recommendations. I technically used 3.17 mm (1/8th in) wood. Please be sure to use what settings work best for your materials and your machine. Running a test grid is always a safe bet.
The purple layer should be set to score, the black layer should be set to engrave, and the red layer should be set to cut; if they are all correctly assigned, then you should be good to arrange them on your canvas and process your shapes.
Once your shapes have been processed & are clean. You’re ready to paint/stain.
You can get creative with this step! Use whatever colors and methods of applying color are your favorite. Pieces are even big enough for kiddos to assist in coloring for dad. If kids are assisting in painting, use kid safe paint, and make sure adults are supervising.
I decided just to do a simple wood stain on mine.
Note: make sure whatever method of color application you choose is suitable for where you are choosing to display your finished project. Example: use outdoor paint for outdoor projects
Tip: if you’d want your paint colors to appear brighter, apply a white spray paint base coat.
Follow the directions on your chosen paint/stain method & allow to dry completely.
Once your pieces are fully dry, add a magnet to the back. You can find self adhesive magnetic sheets and cut them to size, or glue a magnet to the back.
Note: make sure whatever adhesive you choose is suitable for where you are choosing to display your finished project. Example: use waterproof adhesive for outdoor projects
Follow the instructions on your adhesive of choice. Allow to dry completely.
Once you’ve attached your magnets, you’re ready to give them to dad (grandpa, papa, pappy, whoever) & hang them on their fridge! Happy Father’s Day!
