Information

I made some whimsical plant stakes to sell at an upcoming craft fair. I scored them because that looked better on the painted MDF I used than engraving. I originally designed them for engraving on acrylic or natural wood so I will be making those soon. The design file included includes ten designs but many more will be able to fit on a 19"X12" piece of material.

I used “True Flat” 3mm MDF in white that I purchased from Big Blue Laser Designs at a very affordable price. This was my first time experimenting with this material and I LOVE IT!  You could also pre-paint your own material (I do that often).

The cut and score time took about one minute per plant stake so it just took a little over ten minutes to process this project with the P2.

I did an “Engrave” test grid to see how the material would look engraved and while it is possible I thought the plant stakes would look cleaner using score. (Saved time too!)

Step2: Wash finished stakes in sink with Eraser Sponge

I washed and wiped off the residue with an off brand eraser sponge from the dollar store.
