Information
I was lucky enough to come across some Fall themed long frames in the clearance section of a local store (90% off). I repurposed them for Christmas. I created A "Nativity" Scene and a "Santa over the City" scene. I added some lights and viola, instant magic! Sincerest apologies for not including a file but there were many files and they were all purchased on Etsy so, you can find them there.

The frames measured 60cm x 13cm. I was able to remove the wooden lettering from the inside and cover up the "Fall" artwork with various Christmas themed cardstock.

I searched for files online that allowed me to add characters or objects like trees, cities by the mountain etc.. Here you can see I had some figures from a nativity scene cut out from another file. For the Nativity scene I laid out all the cut pieces and placed them in the order I wanted them to sit. I added lights later.

The "Santa" scene took a little bit more work to create. I actually found a package of images online that included, bridges, a mini manger, a snowman, a truck, 4 different trees and 6 different houses including a church. I included the moon and starts from another project and snowflakes from yet another project. Here I painted everything white after I engraved and cut them. I basically did watercolor so the detail of the engraving showed through the white paint. You may notice a lot of "charring" on the church, the mini manger and the Christmas tree before I painted them. This technique is a good way to balance out the dark edges.

After everything was cut, painted, laid out I placed them in the frame with "pop-dot" tape or the tape you use for 3d paper art. It gives your cut outs separation from the background (and shadows). I added lights (optional) and it became my proudest work to date!

These both sold at my last craft show but I am looking at making a few more before the end of the season. Feel free to ask any questions or just leave a comment.

Thanks for your time!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
