For the Valentine Contest, I was searching for a subtle and less cheesy design. Since I have a fondness for nature, and it is just emerging from its winter slumber around Valentine's Day, the idea of using trees came to me.

I selected suitable trees as a reference and meticulously traced each branch in a vector graphics program.

I utilized a standard box shape for interlocking as the base for the design.

The tree design and the box form were then meticulously merged and connected.

The entire design was prepared for laser cutting and exported as an SVG file.

Step3: Laser Cut

I adjusted the SVG to fit my board (297 x 420 mm).

It was crucial to make the cutouts for interlocking as wide as the thickness of the wood (4mm - highlighted in red) to ensure a perfect fit in the end.

There needs to be an opening in the lid of the lamp

I chose 4mm Poplar plywood in DIN A3 format (297 x 420 mm) and utilized the XTool S1 40W laser cutter with the settings Power: 70 and Speed: 10.

After laser cutting, I stained the wood to achieve a darker color.

I applied translucent craft paper in a brownish shade to the interior.

Carefully assembling all the pieces, I illuminated the creation with an LED candle.

With a real candle the risk of fire would be too high and we don't want a catastrophe.

Now, the romantic moments with your loved one can commence in the warm glow of the lamp.
