Love U Key chain (ValentineWeTime)
Instruction
Acrylic and UV resin keychain that says Love U says it all this holiday for that someone special.
Items needed for this project are the following:
Black Cast Acrylic
Steel Key Ring
UV light to cure UV Resin
UV Resin
Red Mica Powder to color Resin
Step 1) In this first step a heart is selected from the shapes menu, this heart is copy and pasted to create a second one. This second one gets resized slightly smaller than the first one to create a border.
Step 3) Once the heart is ready with a border and small area for a hang hole is created. This is achieved by placing a circle right in the middle of the heart at the top. Once in place the combine feature is used to unite the outter portion of the heart and the new circle. Then a small hole is placed in the middle of this area to provide hanging ability with a steel ring.
Step 4) In this step text was added by using the text feature. The words LOVE U were created and the font was chosen. This word is placed within the smaller part of the heart because that area is cut out anyway. Now everything is ready for the laser machine. All that is done here is the heart and all it's bits along with the wording gets cut.
Step 5) Once the pieces are cut on the laser the UV resin is mixed with the mica coloring, this doesn't take much resin to fill the heart. Once a layer of resin is inside the heart the letter LOVE U are added and more resin to lock them into place. 5 minutes under the UV lamp and it is dry and hardened enough to handle. I would say after 1 hour in direct sun light or the use of the UV lamp it will be ready to use.
