Ever wanted to sip your favorite beverage from a glass with its own resident feathered friend? This tutorial will guide you through the enchanting process of laser engraving an owl onto the bottom of a drinking glass, creating a mesmerizing effect as the liquid swirls above. Get ready to transform a simple glass into a conversation starter, a personalized gift, or simply a delightful addition to your own collection. No matter your experience level, this project will have you etching owls like a pro in no time!
Choose a glass with a thick, flat bottom suitable for engraving. Avoid crystal or thin glasses, which might crack under the laser's heat.
Coat the bottom of the glass with a chalk pen. I used one from the dollar tree. Make sure to coat the entire area you wish to engrave.
Set up your depth and border through the usual settings. Find an image you want to engrave and place it in your marked area. You may have to mirror the image if you are using text. I didn't so there was no need.
Engrave your glass. I used a Power of 20 Speed of 25 Lines at 140 and 2 passes.
When done the chalk pen simply washes off with water. I barely had to touch it. You are left with the etched glass as you can see from the picture.
