Step1: Process Material

This file has 2 canvases, and each are laid out for Xtool selected 12x12 inch ¼ inch thick cherry wood plywood.  If using any other material, you may need to adjust the size of the slots and the pegs.  Auto measure your material and then mark your processing area using the rectangle.  Make sure the pieces are inside your marked area.  It will look like the pieces are too tall for the material, but you cannot mark the full processing area.  The pieces will cut out as long as you line up the bottom correctly.  Make sure the settings are set to cherry wood plywood.  Process each canvas.

Step2: Clean and Glue Material

One everything is cut, clean each piece with your preferred method.  This project was wiped down with white vinegar and then lightly sanded.  Place the top pieces on one by one, putting glue in between each layer.  Clamp and then remove from the butterfly piece so the top doesn't get glued to it.  Let it completely dry.  Glue the bottom pieces together by putting a thin line of glue on the very edge of each layer.  Wipe off the excess glue as you go.  This part is hard to clamp, so place a weight or something heavy on top and let dry.

Step3: Finish Assembly

You will want to use an outdoor polyurethane to seal and protect the wood from the elements.  It will be easier to apply the polyurethane to each piece before you finish assembling.  It is recommeded to apply 3 coats.  Once that is done, you can slide on the top and bottom and insert each peg.  Glue the pegs in place for added security.  Attach cord or chain or material of choice to the two holes on the top.  You can now hang your birdfeeder and fill with seed.
