Begin by gathering the necessary materials:

  • 3mm acrylic (for the garden stake stems)
  • Construction paper or another thin, flexible material (for the pinwheel blades)
  • Brass fastener (for assembly)

Next, open the project file in xTool Creative Space. Load your materials into your laser cutter and ensure your machine settings are properly configured for each type of material.

  • Cut the pinwheel blades from construction paper or a similarly flexible alternative.
  • Cut the garden stake stems from 3mm acrylic.

⚠️ Before cutting, always double-check your material thickness and power/speed settings to ensure clean, accurate cuts.

With all your pieces cut, it’s time to put your pinwheel together. Gather the following:

  • Pinwheel blades
  • Acrylic stem
  • Brass fastener
  • Acrylic washer

Assembly Instructions:

Start by inserting the brass fastener through the acrylic washer.

Carefully align the blade holes one at a time onto the fastener. It helps to curl the blades slightly inward as you go.

Once all blade tips are threaded, push the fastener through the center back of the blades and then through the hole in the acrylic stem.

Secure the pinwheel by bending open the brass fastener wings on the back of the stem.

📸 Refer to the included step-by-step photos for visual guidance as you assemble.

Step3: Find the Perfect Spot!

Your patriotic pinwheel is ready to shine!

Place it in a garden bed, flower pot, or along a walkway to add a festive pop of color and movement. If you used construction paper for the blades, consider keeping it in a sheltered outdoor spot or bringing it indoors during rain. For all-weather display, swap in thin plastic sheets in place of paper.

🎉 Enjoy the breeze-powered charm of your handmade pinwheel!
