Being a nature lover the Spring contest urged me to try out my new machine - my first ever laser! I pushed myself to experiment and try various processes. Rock, Wood, Leaf and corn husk engraving and the inkjet printer.
As a newbie, I don't have full instructions - mainly because I was very much experimenting.
I used my phone to snapshot capture the workspace for framing.
I used playdoh & the rotary tool spirit level to find the flatest surface of the rock.
The inkjet printing was set to 100% Intensity and was my first ever time using the module.
The corn husk and leaf were the most difficult with lots of testing for my desired effect.
The leaf was approx. 15% power 320mm/s Speed.
The cornhusk was very troublesome to get as flat as possible but I was pleased with the effect. 14% power 200mm/s Speed worked for me.
The stone i ran many passes at various speeds as although I had tested first and found my favourite, it didn't quite look right on the final piece. So approx. 50% power 225mm/s speed, 5 passes. I believe a darker stone would have shown up a contrast faster.
I hope this helps someone and I can't wait to experiment more and improve on my instructions and photos. Watch this Space!
