  1. Create the ornament base by creating a circle in the size you want the ornament to be.  In Lightburn in the toolbar select the circle. For a true circle hold the Shift key at the same time you are creating the circle. Once you have a circle, just change the size to what you want. I chose 3.5 inches.  Note: I would save this as you can use it for any ornament you may want to create in the future. Thus can also be created in XCS doing the sae thing.
  2. Create the top of the ornament to be able to hang it. Create a smaller circle and move it to the top of the bigger circle. Place it half in the circle and half out of the circle. Click on the smaller circle and holding the Ctrl key also select the larger circle. Go to the tools menu on top and select weld shapes.  This will weld the two together and allowing you to add the top piece.
  3. Make a much smaller circle and place it wherever you want to have the whole to hang it. I put it right in the middle of the piece we just merged.
  4. Create an array of how many ornaments you want to make, Select the ornament base you just created go to the toolbar on the side and select array (see photos above). Select how many rows and columns you want based on the size of the ornament.
  5. Cut the pieces when ready. On the D1 20 watt, I selected 420 speed and 80% power and 2 passes for a clean cut.

Creating the area to add your saying.

1 Create a circle the same size as your ornament. (before adding the top piece. Mine was 3.5

2 We are going to to offset the circle with another circle inside. Click on your circle you just created, go to the offset tool on the side toolbar, (see images above), I chose Inside and I changed the size to .3500. You can decide based on the font you choose to use and if you want to add an image in the center of the ornament.

3 If you have not yet selected the sayings you want to use, this would be a good time to find them or write them.

I selected some for male  (cowboys) and female (cowgirls) .

Once you have your sayings (make sure they are not too big since you want it to fit in the new circle

4 Type out your saying. At this time you can also decide on the font you want to use.

5 With the saying on your screen, we are going to make it fit in the newly created offset by clicking on the blue dot and moving the font to fit in the offset. (see images) you may need to adjust the size of the font to make it fit correctly. Take your time to get exactly what you want. You can move it up or down or around once you detemine the size font you have decided on.

6 Once you are happy with this you will be ready to cut out the circle and engrave the font. You will need to put the part to cut on one layer and the engraving on another layer

7. On the D1 20 watt laers I have the setings at 420 speed, 80 % power and 2 passes. To engrave I have 4000 speed at 50% power and 1 pass.  You may want to run a few tests to see what speed works best for the engraving on the type and color wood you are using.

Glue the pieces together. I also painted the inner images black or pink depending on the saying being used. Unfortunately the pink ones sold before taking pictures of them
